Ann Clare Oakar Joins the Cleveland Municipal Court Bench

(Cleveland) -- On Friday, December 7, 2017, Ann Clare Oakar was sworn in as judge on the Cleveland Municipal Court bench, a month to the day she won election to an unexpired term previously held by the Honorable Jimmy L. Jackson Jr.

(Cleveland) -- On Friday, December 7, 2017, Ann Clare Oakar was sworn in as
judge on the Cleveland Municipal Court bench, a month to the day she won election to an unexpired term previously held by the Honorable Jimmy L. Jackson Jr.
The ceremony was held in Courtroom 15A in the Justice Center, the courtroom of the Honorable Ronald B. Adrine, the Administrative and Presiding Judge who is retiring in January.
Judge Oakar is a 2001 graduate of the Case Western Reserve School of Law. Her legal career began in law school working in the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. In addition to working in private practice, she served as the Assistant Prosecutor and Law Director for the City of Broadview Heights and as Law Director and Prosecutor for the Village of Bentleyville.
In 2011, she was appointed as a Magistrate in the Parma Municipal Court.
Judge Oakar comes from a family with a long history of community engagement and service. Her aunt, Mary Rose Oakar served in the U.S. Congress from 1977-1993.
